The Movie

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was Walt Disney's first full-length animated featurette, premiering in theaters nationwide in 1937. Based on one of the Brother's Grimm's most famous fairy tales, Snow White tells a beautiful tale of a maiden with lips as red as the rose, skin as white as snow, and hair as black as ebony, who lives with her wicked stepmother, the Queen, who is insanely jealous of Snow White's pure beauty. She dresses Snow White in rags and makes her work as a scullery maid. Snow White is still ever as sweet and gentle, singing and dancing with her animal friends. One day, the Queen spies Snow White speaking with a handsome Prince, and decides to do away with Snow White once and for all. She calls upon her faithful huntsman to kill the young princess. The huntsman, seeing Snow White's sweet and loving nature, can't bring himself to kill her, so he sends her deep into the woods, never to return. After an exhausting night of running through the dark woods, Snow White stumbles upon a cottage, and falls asleep. The cottage belongs to seven dwarfs, Grumpy, Doc, Sleepy, Sneezy, Bashful, and Dopey. After Snow White promises to cook and clean for them, they let her stay and grow to love her. Meanwhile, the Wicked Queen consults her magic mirror. "Magic Mirror on the wall, who is the fairest one of all?" The mirror tells her that Snow White is still alive, with the seven dwarfs. The Queen, outraged, decides to take matters into her own hands, and creates a potion to turn her young, beautiful self into an ugly old hag. She creates a poisoned apple that will cause Snow White to fall into an eternal, deathlike sleep. The only cure is true love's kiss. While the dwarfs are out, the Queen comes to the cottage, and tries to sell Snow White the apple. She tells her that with just one bite, her wishes will come true. Snow White, thinking of her beloved prince, takes a bite and falls to the ground. The dwarfs discover the old hag is the Wicked Queen, and chase her off a cliff. Discovering that they were too late, and that their beloved Snow White is apparently dead, they construct a glass coffin for her and lay her in the woods. Many months later, Prince Charming hears of a beautiful maiden sleeping in the woods, and, thinking that it is his beloved Snow White, rides to the clearing where she lay. Planting a sad, goodbye kiss on her lips, the prince bows his head in sadness. Snow White, however, wakes, and seeing her prince, rushes into his arms. The dwarfs are overjoyed that their beloved Princess is alive, and rush to hug her. Snow White kisses them, and promises to visit often. And, riding off into the distance with her true love, she realizes all her dreams have come true. And they lived happily ever after...
