Not long after her first year at Alfea began, Musa noticed the brooding Riven was paying her some extra attention. The other girls of the Winx Club found his attitude grating, but Musa assumed that was just his way of flirting. She was right, but, unfortunately, before the two could get together, the witches attacked Riven during the race on the Day of the Rose, and Darcy put Riven under her spell. Not long after, Riven and the witch began going out, leaving Musa heartbroken. She claimed that she was over him to her friends, but in actuality her crush on him continued throughout the school year. At last, during the final battle agains the witches, Darcy revealed her true colors to Riven, breaking the spell. Riven was furious for having been deceived, and felt terrible about the way he had treated Musa and his other friends. Upon returning to Alfea with the others, Riven sought out Musa and told her (stuttering and slurring his words together the whole time) that he liked her. From the beginning of Season Two and onward, it is clear that Riven+Musa truly care about each other, and are a sort-of couple, but both of them still have trouble showing their feelings for each other. Finally, Musa realizes that she needs to be the one to get things out in the open, so she tells Riven that she likes him a lot, and that she doesn't mind if he doesn't say it back. Riven's feelings come to the surface, however, as Musa prepares to leave in the final battle against Lord Darkar. He pulls her into his arms, asking her to come back to him, saying he deosn't know what he would do without her. Later, during the fight, Lord Darkar is about to blast Musa, but Riven leaps in the way, and is knocked unconscious. Musa cries and pleads for him to wake up, and kisses him. He wakes up in her arms and smiles.
